Self Storage FAQs

What is self storage?

Self storage is a service that offers both domestic and business users access to an individual secure storage space. The storage containers at Purple are secure, clean and dry and are accessible 7 days a week.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is one calendar month and part thereof.

How do I make payment?

The initial payment must be made by either credit/debit card or a cheque accompanied with a valid cheque guarantee card. Subsequent monthly payments must be made in advance either automatically by credit/debit card or by direct debit.

Can your prices be discounted in any way?

Yes we offer substantial discounts for longer rental periods if the rental fees are pre-paid in full. We can also offer discounts for the rental of more than one container.

What form of ID do you require for me to take out a rental agreement?

We require both photographic ID and address verification.

For photo ID one of the following is required: a valid Passport; or a valid National I.D. card; or a valid Driving Licence I.D. card.

For address verification one of the following is required provided that it is dated within the last 12 months and confirms the name and address that you are putting on the storage agreement: a Utility Bill (not mobile phone bill); or a Bank/Building Society Statement; or any Benefits Agency Correspondence.

For business customers the photo ID must be of the person signing the storage agreement, but the address verification ID can be either for this person or for the business named on the storage agreement. (Please note that company letterheads are not sufficient for this requirement.)

Do you insure my goods whilst they are stored with you?

No. It is your responsibility to take out appropriate insurance cover at full replacement value for your property.

Are your containers fireproof?

No, containers are not 100% fireproof. However, our containers are manufactured from steel and marine ply-wood so they are very resistant to fire but as we all know with enough extreme heat anything will burn.

When can I access my storage container?

Access to your container is free of charge and access is available between 08:00 – 20:00 on Monday to Friday, and between 10:00 – 16:00 on Saturday & Sunday.

What security measures are there?

Our site has entry and exit barriers and is completely monitored by CCTV. You are the only one who will have access to your container which will need to be padlocked. You can supply your own padlock or one can be purchased from our office.

How much notice do I have to give to end my storage agreement?

We simply require 14 days written notice of your intention to terminate the Licence Agreement before the end of the contract date agreed.
